Woman at the Well

At one home, we shared the gospel with a whole family: parents and children. They were all receptive and each person on the ministry team shared a word of knowledge, the gospel or something special to them. We had asked if there was any way we could pray for them, and one woman shared that she had been divorced several times. She could not keep a relationship, but would marry someone and divorce them. I was able to share the story of the woman at the well with her, and how Jesus has pursued one woman, despite all she had done. He knew her and He loved her enough to pursue her--- to travel a far distance to meet her. Today, Jesus had sent us all the way from around the world to tell her how much He loved her too. The woman at the well encountered Jesus and her testimony transformed an entire village. Today, this woman had accepted Jesus and He was going to use her testimony to transform her village, Sukete. It was a beautiful moment of the Bible coming alive.

Breaking Chains

One of our expedition leaders had wanted to speak with the headman’s wife, because she was reluctant to admit that she was wearing charms she had received from a witch doctor. A few of us were able to sit down with her on the last day to share with her and ask questions. By the end of the conversation, she was willing to cut off her bracelets and necklace and then made the decision to throw them into the fire. This was huge for the headman’s wife to commit her life to Christ in this way.

I could probably write stories down for hours. The entire trip was gospel-centered, and brought a sense of urgency to Jesus' message: "the harvest is ready, but the laborers are few." We saw sicknesses be healed, demons be cast out, salvation after salvation and we were able to reach every home in an entire village with the gospel message. Zambia is hungry for MORE, and truly how humbling it is that God would use someone like me to introduce Jesus for the very first time. I keep in contact with these missionaries on a regular basis and pray for their efforts to sustain what the LORD did in this short amount of time. If you ever want to hear more stories, just ask! I'll share with you about the generational salvations we witnessed, the widow we prayed with, the pregnant women who went into labor and so forth.

Against evil spirits and witchcraft that torment families
