Can you tell me Jesus' last words on earth? Can you recite the great commission? When was the last time you actually lived it?

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," - Matthew 28:19
“What if we worked to make disciples like we worked to make money?”
"Go and make disciples of all nations" - seven final words from Jesus and one single command that he commissioned his disciples before ascending into the heavens.
As Christians, it has become easy to pick & choose which parts of the Bible we want to apply to our lives. Maybe we devote our time to reading the Bible every night, spend hours listening to Maverick City's new worship album, or collect journals full of sermon notes. While all of those things are great, Jesus did not call us to be "pickers & choosers" with the gospel. If Jesus makes a final command before ending his time on earth, then that's something we ought to pay close attention to. When was the last time you made a disciple? When was the last time you actively pursued a relationship or sought out someone in order to draw them closer to Christ? It is easy to become so consumed with keeping our own relationships in check, that we neglect Jesus's final words.
I spent a lot of my life ignoring Jesus. I read his commands, I knew what they said, and I left Jesus on read. I spent so much time anxious that I was not seeking Him enough or sacrificing enough to be worthy of the call that He had placed on my life, that I completely missed the CALL. I completely ignored His final command. It wasn't until I started going on mission's trips that my eyes were opened to how many lost souls are out there just waiting to be found, in other countries and in my neighborhood. I was surrounded by opportunities to make disciples, yet I spent my time making myself more righteous.
Who around you needs to hear the gospel? Who in your circle is desperate for Jesus? Who can you walk alongside with? Making disciples is not just sharing the gospel, but it is saying, "I am going to be there with you as you figure your faith out." It is crying with people in moments of pain, belly-laughing in seasons of their joy, and being a steady source of love.
What if we worked to make disciples like we worked to make money? Start making disciples like it's your mission, because it is. You have the power to change the world. What's holding you back?
